Indigo Elderflower Sour
Shake up a cool, flowery cocktail of purple gin and juice. Or whip up a fizzy lavender mocktail.
Tucked in the quaint downtown of woodsy Bend, Oregon, is the Japanese-inspired restaurant Chomp Chomp. The service is posh and friendly, and the real crab rangoon leaves you wanting five more. It is worth a meal if you ever find yourself in that neck of the Pacific Northwest woods. Don’t forget to order a signature cocktail (or mocktail) from the bar. The Elderflower Purple Power Sour whisked me away to a field of wild blooms with its entrancing hue, herbal aromas, and light as a cloud frothy crown.
A spin on a traditional sour, the gin-based cocktail gets a floral jolt from elderflower liqueur. The sweet and tart ingredients are as balanced as Simone Biles on beam, but it is the color I found most enticing.
Gin and shakers are at the ready.
A Gin of a Different Color
The Canadian-contrived gin the restaurant pours is so purple that you would think the color is artificial. But not so, my negroni-loving friends.
